This puzzle is just about the closest thing to a themeless you'll ever get from me-- which is to say, it has a theme, but the theme is just "here's a cool grid!" Everything is explained in the PDF file, but basically all you need to know is that two grids interlock to create an infinite loop.

Is this what constructors see while on 71-Down, I wonder?

Not available online, unfortunately but obviously.

I had so much fun with this puzzle. I don't think I've ever been disoriented by a puzzle before :)

Elise this is incredible. What a journey and I second @sens - the clues themselves were amazing as well. Thank you for making this! This was so frustratingly fun.

This is an amazing puzzle! The mechanism is so tricky that I would have forgiven bad fill, but it's all good instead. Congratulations!

About

Hello! I'm Fabian. I'm a computer science and math student in Toronto. I construct puzzles based on science and technology that I find interesting, and sometimes other stuff as well. I like to think that my February 2023 New York Times debut led to a spike in physics-related google searches, but I have no evidence to back this up. I mostly publish in indie outlets, so if you enjoy my puzzles, please support them!

New puzzles will drop when I am not in class. This used to say "every few weeks", but looking at the post history of the last three years, the real pattern is "when I am not in class". In the unlikely event that you don't have this tab open at all times to check, you can sign up to get an email when a new puzzle drops. (No spam, I promise, just puzzles!)
